The 5 Minutes Rule

So much controversy generated around the Smith Vs. Lawler fight. Most, I believe, comes from the hard-core fan's disappointment that a really good fight was stopped. I was at the fight. Luckily seating on ring side, and was certainly disappointed. And so were the EXC's executives, Shaw and others. The emotional reaction came about from all corners. But after all waters have calmed down, some respectable people in the MMA community as talking, giving some light to the controversy. Are fans' hearing? I'm not sure. The drama is back in the past and other early stoppages have come about in other important MMA promotions.

Yet, some people are still "hurt".

I just found a very interesting article written by respected Sam Caplan in one of his CBSSport interviews and posted in FiveOuncesOfPain.com. This is an interview to "highly respected" former MMA referee. Not only he seem to openly agree with the stoppage but he also gives a pretty wide and clear explanation on an MMA rule that seem to be confusing even for hard-core MMA fans.

And here is how it goes:

The question that Sam Caplan formulated was:

Q: I wanted to delve into that show some more. First, I wanted to ask about the Scott Smith vs. Robbie Lawler fight. Smith took a thumb to the eye and the fight was declared a no contest. He was not given five minutes to recover from the foul. Was that the correct call?

The answer by McCarthy:

The correct call was that they stopped the fight because

Scott Smith said "I can't see."

And any doctor -- and I don't care who they are -- you can look at the New Jersey doctor, they're no different than any other doctor; there's no doctor that is going to allow a fighter to go back out and fight when he says he can't see.

The explanation of the 5 minutes rule, by McCarthy:

The misconception is this: within the unified rules, when we talk about fouls and time to recover from the fouls, the rules and the way they are worded are not clear to people. It says you have up to five minutes to recover from a foul. But truthfully, it doesn't cover all fouls like that. The five minutes for them to recover from the foul is determined upon a couple of things: if there is a low blow; if they get hit with a groin shot and they go down and the referee brings the doctor in and the doctor says he can continue, at the one-minute mark the doctor says the fighter can continue.

The fighter, on his own, has the ability to say "I need more time" and has up to five minutes to recover and re-engage in the fight. He has that five-minute rule and he has control of it. If it's at three minutes and he says he needs more time, the referee cannot make him start off in the fight. He has control of the time (but) that is the only time within the rules when the fighter has control of the time.

The other times, when you're taking a look at something like with Scott Smith and what happened when he took a finger in the eye, the referee stops the fight, goes to the doctor and has the doctor look at Scott Smith. If Scott Smith didn't say "I can't see" and the doctor wants to take up to five minutes to give him time to recover, then the doctor can do that. But if the doctor said "He can continue" and it was at the two minute mark and Scott Smith says "I need more time, my eye is blurry," the referee doesn't have the ability to give Scott Smith that time. Scott Smith doesn't have the right to have that time.

Once the doctor, in regards to a foul such as an illegal elbow, or an illegal knee, or a finger to the eye, once the doctor says the fighter can continue then the referee needs to go and re-start the fight. The fighter cannot say "I'm not ready yet." And that's the way the rules are. Given that, because of the fact that Scott Smith said "I can't see," there's no doctor in New Jersey, California, Nevada, Ohio -- I don't care where, they're all going to say

"That's it; you say you can't see. There's no more fight;

I'm not going to put a blind person out there."

One last thought?

Humbly I appreciate the stoppage. The fight was televised to mainstream. The MMA world was highly concerned whether mainstream America was ready for MMA and whether it was going to be accepted that night or criticized. Happilly or not, the stoppage showed them that MMA does take care of it's fighters and it's not a wild and barbaric "show" that some people are trying to call sport. It showed them that MMA has rules, it's organized, and it protect the fighters. It showed that the fighters are athletes and also are human... And this is while I'll say in my next little blog...

Respectfully and humbly,

Ale

MMA is a true sport - Thanks Lawler and Smith!

After re-watching the Lawler/Smith fight I noticed something amazing... something that made me gain an incredible respect for them as fighters and for MMA as a sport. I humbly invite you to watch it again. This time without over-reacting to the stoppage.

Watch it...

Enjoy it ...

Notice the beauty of MMA right in front of your eyes: MMA fighters are human. MMA is about Honor and Respect. MMA is a True Sport.

Lawler and Smith unknowingly showed all of us - fans and fans-to-be- what true fighters are made of. They showed the public the heart of MMA. They taught mainstream that MMA is not barbaric. And unlike the fans and fighters in this threads, they represented True MMA, coming together and showing all of us the caliber of their sportmanship and athletism. They came together, complaint together. They hugged each other, champion each other and they also moved on.

They presented to the millions of viewers the opportunity to see that MMA fighters are great human beings; that MMA fighters are real athletes, and that MMA is a true sport.

I hope we all learn from that and start supporting MMA as a whole instead of ripping it off in pieces.

Peace out.

Violence on Primetime Network TV or Making of MMA a Mainstream accepted Sport?

"boxing can be savage, and MMA tries to be savage" Tony Kornheiser

Michael Wilbon adds: "... succcesfully"

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS ProElite, Inc./EliteXC on your new multi-year contract with CBS to air 4 events at a year. You've done it once more, against people's expectation. This is a great deal not only for ProElite and for CBS but for MMA overall.

This deal has an amazing potential. Now fans can watch free MMA on National TV. Free. Completely Free. Now those who couldn't pay for Payperviews, or Showtime can take a peak and decide whether they like or not.

Not only there will be these fights, but it's my perception that the Showtime events will continue to be aired as well (we need to confirm this.)

In addition, new audience will be exposed to the sport, not only fans, but fans to be. And sure there will be people against it, but there's an audience for everything and the fact that CBS got into this eal just shows how MMA is more and more accepted as a sport. The deal itself can only help polishing any rough edges and pushing it to the next level.

When asked by Sam Caplan about this deal, ProElite, Inc.'s CEO and "one of the main architects" of the deal, Doug Deluca, said:

"We're going from an audience of SHOWTIME, which has a universe of
between 15 and 20 million households and now you're jumping into a
world where there is 100 million households. That's pretty amazing.
That's a pretty far reach. It's a great day for MMA and its athletes
and its fans. "

The news already have brought a great deal of attention to MMA and to ProElite, Inc.:

"[the announcement] means so much for our sport. It means
so many things. Just to name a few, it means exposure for the sport and
the athletes to a universally larger audience. Like I said, 100 million
households on terrestrial, free television means anyone with a
television of any kind can access this. So just from an exposure
standpoint it means a lot for the sport. From a sponsorship and
advertising standpoint, this will certainly put the sport in a much
better light with sponsors and advertisers now that CBS, a major
mainstream network, is behind this. It's going to break the dam wide
open for sponsorship. As far as the fighters go, it's going to enable
the fighters to get themselves more sponsorship and exposure and grow
their brand." - Doug DeLuca

http://samcaplan.proelite.com/98740

Now in looking at a certain video (click here) where Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon were speaking about CBS/MMA in Primetime TV bringing violence to the audience, it was funny to hear and see this! Isn't primetime TV violent already? Aren't we seeing barbarism and savage scenes on TV already?

I personally think that MMA is indeed violent, so is boxing. It's a fact that there are further more death cases in boxing than in MMA. Doug DeLuca mentioned in an interview that we also need to take a look at other sports that happen to be very violent yet accepted by the public.

However, at this point, to use the word "violence" it's silly. Who are we fooling? I turn on the TV and the material presented it's not peaceful and inspiring, is it? Are some of these TV shows and movies less violent than MMA? Really? Killing, raping, unhealthy sex, selling drugs? I doubt it!

I, as a new fan have earned a great deal of respect for fighters and for MMA. I also appreciate the rules of the sport-including its shorter rounds, in comparison to boxing. I've learned a lot and not only accepted it in my life but became a fan of it and this community as well. I 'm rather a non-violent and peaceful person, oriented toward healing and meditation and would 300% rather seat to watch MMA than some of these movies and shows!

It's all about how it gets promoted and portrayed. It's all about how we as the MMA community make it appear too and talk about it. It's also about the fighters and what they do and how they do it. But hey... athletes in other accepted sports have some interesting records that an MMA professional fighter would look like a saint! People are willing to learn... I've seen so many new fans lately.

And let's think about it:

CBS, a giant in National Primetime TV, wouldn't risk it. They just didn't and will most definitely add to the sport.

I expect lots of criticism at the beginning (like usual, this is part of human nature) but eventually MMA will most definitely take over Mainstream.

I like ProElite, Inc attitude:

Don't bother to look at negative criticism,

keep on building on, keep on moving forward.

LOS
ANGELES, Feb. 28 — The CBS Television
Network and ProElite, Inc., a Los Angeles-based leading entertainment and media
company that produces world class mixed martial arts (MMA) events, today jointly
announced a multi-year agreement that will bring one of the fastest growing
spectator sports to a major broadcast television network for the first time.

CBS will
broadcast four MMA events per year, produced by ProElite's EliteXC fight
division, as two-hour live primetime specials targeted for Saturday nights.

The
agreement augments an existing relationship between CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS
and CBS.A) and ProElite (PELE.PK), which began broadcasting its EliteXC live
MMA events on CBS's SHOWTIME premium cable network in 2007. EliteXC events will continue to air on
SHOWTIME.

Additionally, CBS Interactive
and ProElite's new media division, ProElite.com, will collaborate on generating
interactive content for both companies' platforms, including CBSSports.com. The online offerings could include streaming
of events, clips syndicated across the CBS Audience Network, and other enhanced
content to build an online community around each CBS broadcast and ProElite
event.

"Mixed martial arts is one of
the fastest growing sports in the country and a wildly popular entertainment
vehicle for upscale, young adult audiences," said Kelly Kahl, Senior
Executive Vice President, CBS Primetime. "It's
original programming for Saturday night; it's live, creating an
event-atmosphere; and it’s something that hasn't been seen on network
television, until now."

         "This
is a pivotal moment for the sport of mixed martial arts now that a major
television network plans to broadcast live MMA events during primetime hours,"
said Douglas DeLuca, Chief Executive Officer of ProElite. "We are
delighted to enhance our partnership with CBS to bring American audiences the
very best in MMA competition through our EliteXC brand.

"The
network television agreement with CBS is an important milestone for ProElite as
we continue to implement our growth strategy and develop existing relationships
with our international partners."

"Our
world-class fighters and the high production value of our events continue to
drive ProElite as a global MMA organization that is fortified by the bedrock
foundation of a partnership with CBS," said Gary Shaw, President of
EliteXC. "Broadcasting our events on CBS will instantly engage a new fan
base, as well as provide an opportunity for EliteXC to further establish itself
as the world's premier MMA organization."

The
intense nature of the contests and the theatrical elements of its live events
have made mixed martial arts one of the fastest growing spectator sports in the
United States. Over the last several years, the genre has
seen tremendous growth in popularity, especially among the coveted 18-34
demographic.

            Mixed
martial arts is a sport evolved from a number of ancient combat disciplines
including judo, jiu-jitsu, karate, wrestling and kickboxing. World-class athletes engage in hand-to-hand
combat in a ring—both caged and traditional—and must adapt their fighting style
to fit their opponent. The wide variety
of styles and techniques make every event an unpredictable spectacle.

About ProElite (www.proeliteinc.com)

ProElite, Inc. delivers the most exciting entertainment

live events division is the company's social media platform, ProElite.com.
Since the beginning of 2007, ProElite.com continues to add thousands of
subscribers each month due to the large number of live streaming MMA events,
social networking tools, and original and partner-driven content. ProElite.com also recently launched the
largest online martial arts school locator as a way for martial arts
practitioners to find the best locations to train, and for schools and dojos to

Confucius says that it matters not what we try to think or carry out; what matters is that once once we begin we must never lose heart until the task is completed. Although we may make thousand efforts, through steadfast and consistent movement we will surely attain success. To help persevere, focus on the joy of the journey
, the process, rather than on the goal or destination. We need to be compassionate with ourselves when we seem not to be making progress.

Regardless of whether we reach our goals,do we have the experience that the experience itself is worthwhile?

... (There will always be plateaus and set backs as natural aspect of the process.) Embrace them as periods of deeper learning and mastery rather than unnecessary annoyances. If we ride out the difficult, discouraging times and follow the heart—what each person knows is right for him or her—we will eventually experience fulfillment.

With all its twists and turns, its changes of direction along the way, the river eventually finds its way to the sea. Endure with ease and hopeful anticipation.

..... In sport there’s always space to practice perseverance...

Don’t you think so?

on Martial Arts and Life Lessons

by Alejandra Armas

Back in 1997, we were in Indonesia for the 2nd World Pranic Healing
Conventions. When we go to these places, Master Choa likes to
study different forms of martial arts, and this time there was
one in particular that appeared very interesting; one in which
they don't touch and literally fight using just energy. We saw
some of these demonstrations, and saw how these guys push each
other and how their faces and skin react to the waves of energy
coming at them... a very interesting scene, indeed. When one sees
them, one gets to think whether they are faking it or not. It
appears they are not and that they've been practicing it for a
long, long time.

After the Convention we went to a retreat with Master Choa Kok
Sui. We were around 180 participants, among us 2 experts in this
form of martial arts... and me... Well, Master was presenting
different forms of expression, and he got the martial art people
to make a demonstration. The room was not ready, and since when
they fight they push each other a lot, Master asked many other
male participants to be behind each of the contenders because
there was a window and a balcony on each side and, being on the
second floor, he was concerned about one of them falling. So after
they demonstrated, Master asked me to stand up and come to him.
He gave me instruction to basically contend with both of them
at the same time. You have to understand that there were many
factors that passed really fast through my mind: I'm a woman,
never liked to fight, never studied martial arts (well, when I
was a 5 years old kid and ended up pulling my sisters hair in
a competition!), and don't have a clue on how to do these things,
and to be sincere I didn't even know what to do. So I asked Master
what he wanted me to do, then he said "nothing." I reacted
by saying "you've gotta be kidding, not even protect myself?"
Master instructed me not to do anything at all, not to react in
any possible way. So I insisted and asked him whether he was going
to put an energy shield on me, like the ones we use in Psychic-Self
Defense-thinking that having one made by Master, the leader of
the group, would be more than a protection for me. He insisted
that nothing, absolutely nothing has to be done. So, I wasn't
very happy with this, but I followed his instructions. I stood
in front of my two expert adversaries and waited. I was told to
not react. By the way, the rest of the group did not know about
these instructions, for it was a private talk between Master and
Me. And my two adversaries? Well, they complained about this exercise,
they thought of it to be very risky and were not happy because
they didn't want to hurt me, but Master said it was OK, and said
to make sure they fight me as if they were fighting an expert.

So there I was in front of them. Standing in a horse position-my
knees we flexed a little and my palms were in blessing position,
but I was not instructed to do any blessing or anything at all.
It was just a pose. Master asked a bunch of other guys, maybe
5 or 6, to stand behind my adversaries. And only one, that was
even shorter than me, to stand behind me. I sincerely didn't have
a happy thought. However, I knew that somehow Master knew what
he was doing, and trusted the instructions. For what appeared
a long period of time, maybe 5 minutes or so, these two adversaries
started "fighting" with me. I could feel the powerful
waves of energy, as if I was in the ocean with strong waves, it
felt as if I was going to get out of balance, and by looking at
their faces, I knew they were doing a good job. I could see the
skin in their faces react as if they were against a super strong
wind that could alter the look of their faces. I know it sounds
dramatic, but for me, IT WAS.

At a given moment, I decided to close my eyes, for I was starting
to get scared and started feeling the energy as well. After what
think was around 5 minutes or so, Master asked the guys to stop
and called me in front of the group, all witnesses of what just
happened. He told the participants to ask me questions. I heard
questions like "what did you do?", "how did it
feel?", "did Master help you?", "Did he put
a shield on you?", "what is the technique?", and
so on... To most of these I just answered the truth: I did nothing,
and Master told me to do nothing, and he didn't even put a shield
on me. Then Master Choa went ahead and started his lecture on
"Non-reaction." The whole exercise was to show how when
we don't engage and react to a situation or an attack, nothing
happens. He found this martial arts discipline to be a good example.
For he explained to us that in this discipline, it normally occurs
that the one who loses is the one who attacks first, for the adversary
takes the energy of the attacker and sends it back to them, never
using his/her own energy. That is why he asked me not to do anything,
they couldn't move me because there was NO energy being projected
by me, and on the contrary, their own energy was coming back to
them. So in a situation of an attack, not engaging, and not attacking,
not reacting allows us to come out of the situation triumphant.

During the same trip, our very last day in Jakarta-Indonesia,
four of us went with Master to see a demonstration by a school.
They were experts in breaking irons, using balls of fire, cooking
with their naked hands in hot oil, pulling super heavy cars with
a cord attached to their necks. So as we were enjoying this demonstration,
he asked me to go play with the balls of fire, to what I, once
again, said no way. However, he insisted and asked the guys to
throw the ball of fire to me, and of course, I had to get it:
or it would just hit me and maybe burn me. So I caught it, and
threw it back at them, and they kept on throwing it to me, and
I felt as if I was just playing with a baseball... Nothing happen.
I was so excited! I could not believe it! Then, when they demonstrated
the braking of the iron-bars, he asked one of the demonstrators
to go do it, and he broke it the first time. After this, Master
asked me to go do it too, and the guys didn't give a new bar,
instead they used half of the one just broken-you know, it is
shorter-maybe a foot long, therefore, less flexible. I was dressed
up, in heels and of course, once again, doubting I could do that.
I definitely thought I would not be able to break the iron bar,
and I didn't. I hit the bar so strongly, just to feel so much
pain my hand! God that was painful! Then he called me and said
to me "you can break it, go try again." Oh, I wanted
to disappear, my hand was in pain and I had to use it again. I
could remember the faces of the guys from the martial art school,
I felt as if they were pitying me. Thin, heels, woman, long hair...they
were actually preoccupied. So I stood up in front of the bar,
and looked at it, and mentally said: "the bar is paper, my
hand is a knife, I can do it." I repeated this so much and
with my fist close I hit it and continue moving my hand downwards
without stopping it. I broke it! And what seemed odd...the pain
completely disappeared. I could feel the power of the moment,
when I chose instead of thinking "I can't," "I
CAN." I was in control of the situation... and today, I still
have half of the bar with me. It reminds me of Trust, and Inner
Power.

Like this, I now have walked on burning coals, and have jumped
from high altitudes to the sea... Trusting and using my mind and
my energy. We've practice projecting energy through our roots
to be much more stable and sometimes almost immovable? I have
practice using my energy to make my body stiff like a board. They
couldn't move my limbs and they could hold me from my head and
feet, and lift me like piece of wood. They even had a heavy guy
sit on top of me without bending me!

One time I was teaching a Pranic Healing class, and one of the
student was a known Martial Arts Master. He came to the class
for he wanted to be able to learn about energy from a perspective
different from that of Martial Arts. He stood in front of me.
I asked him to use force in order not to allow me to bend his
arm, I used energy instead, this time, an energy related to love,
and without any effort, I was allowed to bend his arm. He asked
me for the technique, and I just said: "the energy of non-injury."

It appears to me that Martial Arts is more of a science of Mastering
and harnessing your own energy. If you know how energy works and
how it works within your body, if you use the universal laws and
principles, and you learn to manipulate energy, you definitely
become a person of power, but not the power as we, humans, know
it, but a person of inner power and inner mastery! Welcome to
the world of energy! Welcome to your real self!

(i believe)

This is an Universe made of energy. That's a fact. There are certain principles in this regard:

a. Everything is Energy

b. Energy follows thoughts.
c. Whatever you think of, you magnify and you become.
c. A higher source of energy feeds a lower source of energy.

Cause and Effect
One of the most ancient principles in the world is that any cause
has an effect. Like a boomerang any creation will come back to
the origin bigger in magnitude. This applies to thoughts: what
you think, you project outside, and therefore you create. The
effect will be that what you have created with your thoughts will
come back to you many times, manifested as a reality.

Like attracts like

Like a magnet, things are attracted when we think and feel. There
is a powerful creation process going on when we think! Whatever
has happened in history, existed first in someone’s mind.

Someone may not believe in the
law of gravity. Thats OK. However, that someone will fall from the 10th
floor the same than the one who believes it. Same with Energy
principles. These are embedded in all beliefs and in reality we don't
need to be religious in order to understand that there's a pattern of
creation and destruction in life. Anyone can chose what they believe
on, and in reality there's not absolute truth. In this life only death
and in existence only God, as A Supreme Intelligence, pervasive energy
(not as a man with a bear)

There are negative and
positive energies, but even if i want to be right, in reality what i
see as positive others may not. So i try to stop judgment and can only
do my best to understand
this principle and to understand the fact that in good there's the seed
of bad and in bad there's the seed of good. I decide what role i want
to play, on what side of the field, but i have to also remember that i
also make mistakes, that i'm no perfect and NO ONE is. To the vastness
of this Universe, we are all little ones in this Earth. Tolerance and Goodwill are the
best way for me...

Quoting Einstein:

"Everything is determined... by
forces over which we have no control. It is determined for the insect
as well as for the star. Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust--we
all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible
piper. "

"Our actions should be based on
the ever-present awareness that human beings in their thinking,
feeling, and acting, are not free but are just as causally bound as the
stars in their motion."

"The most beautiful
experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental
emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and science. Whoever
does not know it and can no longer marvel, is as good as dead,
and his eyes are dimmed."
-Albert Einstein

Did Nick Diaz lose the fight?

I will start saying that I really like Nick Diaz (click here to take a look at my previous blog on him) and, however I like KJ Noons since his first EliteXC fight, I really wanted for Nick to win. They are both great athletes and they have a big heart for what they do. Because of where Nick has been and how he got to where he is, we really wanted for him to win. These are just my humble, thoughts that are based on my limited information on MMA. THANKS for reading! And remember to smack it if you want to see the rematch

... Respectfully to all, especially to Nick Diaz ...

Nick signed with Elite XC and consequently he disputed a Title Belt with KJ Noons on RENEGADE November 10 2007. A fight that for most, Nick was going to be the obvious winner.

To my humble perception of MMA, this was a good fight. By the end of the first round a lot has happened.

“Wow, what a first round” Sam Caplan -

However, before the beginning of the second round, the fight was called out by one of the doctors assigned by the Athletic Commission. This rendered a rather highly emotional and almost volatile outcome.

I think that Nick is a great fighter, very technical and very powerful in his technique. Nick goes slow, with small punches that eventually sum up, tiring his contender. For the little I know, he could be beat up, he could bleed quite a lot, but his cardio and condition is good enough to make him last to the end, when he becomes merciless and strikes his already tired opponent.

In the other hand I realize that many fighters may not do the right homework prior to a fight. But KJ Noon seemed to have done it. He said in his interview something along the lines of

“I will work on not letting Diaz bring me down to the floor. I will stand up fast and remain standing, this is the way I like to fight."

He was strong enough to barely allow Nick Diaz bring him down, when he did, he escaped. Nick stroke like usual, however KJ threw some hard punches, hard enough to throw Nick out of balance.

- quoted from Sam Caplan: " K.J. Noons landed some big shots and displayed good, but not great, takedown defense. I didn't think Diaz fought that bad, either. It was just a case where Noons decided to bring it and Diaz absorbed way too much contact to his face."

KJ was powerful enough to make of it a really good first round with Nick, and to cut him open too. Just above both eyes and the nose as well.

Some say it was old wounds that got cut opened again; that KJ really wasn’t good. But I think that you have to “give Cesar what belongs to Cesar” -- Nick was hurt and KJ put a great fight. After this lose with Krazy Horse, I have to believe that KJ prepared and studied his opponent. He has to have known that he couldn’t go too far ahead in time or else Diaz would tire him and ultimately win over him. He didn’t get to the floor, he punched and kicked quite hard.

From what I understand, Nick said something like "the only way KJ could win is if he cuts me" Well KJ did. Unfortunately, but he did.

As far as whether it was fair or not to stop the fight and not allow Nick to continue, I understand the decision from a straight factual perception of the rules (this is of course coming from a new fan that rather see the athletes safe)

Nick was not only badly cut in both his eyes and nose, but his left eye was shot. Truly he wasn’t bleeding when he left the cage outraged by the decision, my genuine and most sincere question is "could he really fight with his left eye completely shot without risking his health and the health of the sport?"

Understandably he was upset, after his long history with UFC issues and others, and knowing how he fights and how he felt capable of continuing (which is admirable)--who wouldn't be? And judging from previous fights and from his style, he could have continued. But what was the risk? For him and for MMA? Maybe too high of a price to pay? For him as a fighter, compromising his health; for the promoter, compromising his best fighter; and most importantly for MMA: If Nick would’ve gotten really hurt, it’d be a step back for the sport. Especially being in National TV.

What now? A rematch seems definitely most needed. And like someone mentioned, if Nick Diaz wins – and it's more than possible he would, there’s a chance for a trilogy.

Because of technical issues, Nick just lost a battle. But Nick surely didn't lose “The War”. And quite honestly... The attention he’s getting is quite good for promotion. So that's a win. Now he can stand on being a "Bad Boy" and people will follow this story, all the way through!

- quoted from Sam Caplan: "I think his behavior after the bout only helps. This is a guy who has gained a lot of fans for being anti-establishment. Walking out and giving the promotion the finger only feeds into all of that. Was it unsportsmanlike and classless? You bet. But do Nick Diaz fans like him because he's a class act? Anyone who had heard about Diaz from a friend and was watching him for the first time couldn't have been disappointed with what they say. Those that didn't know him before won't forget him and for those that already know of him, they'll view him as a more recognizable star. Diaz can now go to the media and state his case and get more publicity as a result. The public's awareness of Noons will increase by default." says Sam Caplan about Diaz behaviour."

No, Nick didn’t lose. He did what he does and he’s really good at, put an amazing fight. KJ was prepared and gave him the fight Nick ultimately deserves as a great warrior that he is. We all wanted to see more and wanted Nick raising to his deserved pedestal and get that belt! But KJ ultimately won by TKO and by being a good fighter--can't take that from him.

I'm certain that there’s much more of Nick to come, and now eyes are all over him! What a great opportunity. Costly maybe, but great nevertheless!

NO! Nick “Bad Boy” Diaz didn’t lose:
The fight was just stopped

P.S.: This is from the forum last week. Nick commenting on the fight with KJ Noon:

- quoted from bsanford79 on 08 Nov 2007, 03:00:42

Nick,

Do you think that Noons will underestimate your boxing ability, with KJ being a boxing phenom himself (supposedly).............. He feels that the KrazyHorse knockout was a "lucky" punch.... I think he is going to underestimate your boxing prowess. Also id have to say that you are a vastly superior in boxing, i love watching you box, it is so technical that you almost lok like you are just out there sparring.............

Nick's answer: He seems to think I am a really good fighter so I doubt that.

More from Sam Caplan -

Nick Diaz has a real problem that can't be addressed in the gym and that is that he has a lot of scar tissue in his face. I'm not an expert but I really feel that he probably cuts easier than the typical fighter and it's became of the scar tissue. Diaz may need to make a major change to his approach to the standup game. Instead of staying in the pocket and slugging it out as much as he does, he might need to find his range early and do more dancing around. He may need to even improve his standup defense. We all know he can take a punch but he has to compensate for the fact that his face opens up so easily. Good head movement isn't enough for someone in his position. He needs to excel in that area so that he can limit the amount of contact he takes to the face.

Many are going to disagree but the outcome is perfect for EliteXC. A little controversy never hurt anyone and [...] this will certainly get people talking. Noons needed the win more than Diaz because Diaz can bounce back from this. A loss for Noons would have hurt his stock while a win really puts him on the map and forces many pundits to look at him as being legitimate [...] Based on the action of the first round and the unsatisfying finish, the rematch is definitely something you can sell on PPV [...]

You can see that Diaz takes fighting seriously and I bet his open display of frustration was something that resonated with many fans who were almost as equally disappointed that the fight was stopped. Some fans will blast Diaz for acting the way he did after the fight while others will praise him for not hiding his true feelings. Like Kimbo, Diaz is another fighter who polarizes the audience and those are the types that sell the most tickets. How do you think Tito Ortiz became so popular?

In regard to the decision to stop the fight, while I desperately wanted to see more, how can you really blame the doctor? Diaz's face always gets jacked up early but that was bad even by Diaz standards. The fact that Diaz didn't care and wanted to fight through it is going to earn him respect with a lot of people. That being said, to take issue with the doctor for stopping the bout just isn't rational. I could understand why Diaz would be irrational about it but I don't understand why anyone else would. I would have booed if I was in the crowd and not because I felt it was an early stoppage but because I wanted to see more. There was no one to blame but sometimes fans get caught up in the moment and just want to vent. I'm sure some who booed felt it was an early stoppage but it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the people that were booing were just simply venting disappointment.
http://samcaplan.proelite.com/71584

That fight could have still opened into the 2nd round and then been called if it was obvious that he was impaired. He was way more "jacked up" in the Gomi fight, and look how that went.

No one knows what would have happened if they let that fight go on. Yup, Nick was taking a beating, but that's his style, he comes back later on with that cardio and all that heart. That said, he could have just as easily ended up in the hospital. He was catching punches with his face, even while he could see.....both eyes shut? Come on....i like the guy, but call it over when its over, let him come back for the re-match. This isn't a street-fight. The fights have rules for a reason, to protect the fighters and the future of the sport. This isn't a fight to the death. Come on now. Nick will be back, because the fight was stopped when it should have been.

[...] It wasn't Nick's night. Let him heal up for the re-match and we'll hope for better results for him. I like Nick too, i wanted it to continue, but rules are rules, thats the way it works.

CrewMMA: I can understand Diaz's frustration. When you feel you still have fight left in you and feel you can continue you never want to hear that you just lost the title cause of a doctor stopping the match. He was pissed off and I think he was more flipping the doctor off then anything. We have to remember going through a fight is a emotional roller coaster packed with adrenaline. Sometimes emotions are hard to maintain after the outcome of a fight. When you put your heart into something to only be told you can't do it that will for sure piss you off. [...] Nick was no match for KJ standing up but if he could have kept KJ on the ground he might have had a chance. Nick lacks any real power in his strikes. Hes more of a submission/decision fighter. Has the cardio and heart to just keep going and likes to be on the ground it seems from past fights. But my friends tell me KJ studies BJJ at city as well. He has been studying kick boxing under his father all his life. He has a good training regiment and is a dedicated fighter. I was going for him just cause of our mutual friends. I don't really route for people because of their skill. I was expecting KJ to knock him out but his performance was just as good. In my opinion if it would have gone to a second round Nick was in some serious danger of getting knocked out or having both eyes closed. It looked as if his nose was broke to since it was bleeding inside and out and he spit out his mouth piece half way in the first. Why Diaz thought he could shoot in even after KJ showed he was going to knee him in the face I don't know. It was a good call on the doctor to stop it cause fighting with 1 eye and no mouth piece so you can breath isn't the best idea against a good striker with good ground game.

Glad KJ got the opportunity to show what hes got compared to the upset knock out with Crazy horse. After that one I kept running into people who thought KJ was a joke. Hes by no means a joke and is someone to not be taken lightly. I think he demonstrated that hes no joke by handling Diaz's attempts to take it to the ground. He has shown he has ability to strike if anyone has watched any of his past kick boxing or boxing matches. From what my friends say hes a nice stand up guy and deserves the title.

Congratulations KJ!

Nick: we want the rematch!

USING PRANIC HEALING - ENERGY HEALING

After over 14 years of seeing it and experiencing it, I can tell you it does work and you can make great changes in your life!

I've seen from cancer, to glaucoma, from lupus, to asthma healed. I've
seen traumas gone away. I actually practiced it not to long ago on a
martial artist after a fight, and he was so excited about getting rid
of the pain so fast he kept looking for more areas where he was sored
and asking for healing in those. At the end of a very short session (15
mins) he was so relaxed he even said he wanted to have healings done
prior to a fight in order to relax and center.

Eventually you can even use to just make your energy stronger, more
resilient. To create protective shields and to become internally more
powerful.

We’d love to work with those that are receptive to experience energy healing. And that's all it requires from your side... receptivity!

" I AM COMPLETELY AND FULLY

SUPER OPEN AND SUPER RECEPTIVE

TO THE HEALING ENERGY FROM GOD. "

Breathing is a great part of it too and learning to do Pranic Breathing will not only help you develop awareness and a sense of clarity but also help you develop inner power.

And remember you can learn to do this, by either taking a class like we all did, or you could start by reading the book: "Your hands can heal you" or "Miracles through Pranic Healing" by GMCKS

PRANIC HEALING is a highly developed and tested system of energy based healing techniques that utilizes "prana" to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes. "Prana" is a Sanskrit word that means "life-force". This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as "Chi". It is also called "Ruah" or the "Breath of Life" in the Old Testament.

Pranic Healing is a simple yet powerful and effective no-touch energy healing. It is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a "self-repairing" living entity that possesses the innate ability to heal itself. PRANIC HEALING works on the principle that the healing process is accelerated by increasing the life force or vital energy on the affected part of the physical body

PRANIC HEALING influences this natural life force to bring about a healthier physical body. PRANIC HEALING is applied on the bio-electromagnetic field known as the aura, which contains the mold and blueprint of the physical body. This bioplasmic body absorbs life energy and distributes it to the organs and glands. Diseases first appear as energetic disruptions in the energy field before manifesting as ailments in the physical body. You can learn to do this for yourself and your loved ones in these powerful result-oriented workshops.

In the case of a sored muscle due to fights, there's a congested energy in such area that keeps the energy from circulating in the proper way. Eliminating this energy you could easily and rapidly promote the healing of such trauma.

What is the Human Aura (or the Invisible Energy Body)?

Scientific evidence provides tangible proof of the existence of the energy body and its relation to the health and well-being of the physical body. This has been termed as the "bioplasmic body" from the word "bio" meaning life, and "plasma", the forth state of matter after solids, liquids and gases. Scientific experiments conducted by the eminent Russian scientist, Semyon Kirlian, using ultrasensitive photographic process showed a colorful, radiant energy field surrounding the physical bodies of humans, animals and plants. This energy field, or aura, interpenetrates the visible physical body, extending about 4 to 5 inches from the skin's surface. Experiments in Kirlian photography have also revealed that diseased energies appear first in the energy body before manifesting as a physical ailment.

The Pranic Healing® system is not meant to replace orthodox medicine but merely to complement it. The Pranic Healing® practitioner DO NOT physically touch the recipient's body, diagnose diseases, prescribe any drugs/substances or make any health claims or promises. The Pranic Healing® Practitioner is not a licensed physician, surgeon or psychotherapist. Pranic Healing® treatments --including Pranic Healing for Emotional and Mental Well-being®-- are not licensed by the state but are complementary to healing arts services licensed by the state. Pranic Healing® is a highly developed system of energy based healing techniques that utilizes "prana" or life force to balance, harmonize and transforms the body's energy processes by cleansing, energizing and balancing the body's bio-electromagnetic field. The practitioner's counseling and coaching modalities are based on spiritual teachings and intuitive abilities. Her spiritual counseling and her Coaching are not meant to replace psychologist or any kind of licensed therapies. The Practitioner holds a Minister Certification and works towards creating a better future
Exciting research experiment with Pranic Distant Healing

Dr Masaru Emoto, is an internationally renowned researcher on water and his laboratory , in Japan, examines frozen water crystals under a microscope and photographs them with special equipment.

On 24th July 2003 Dr Hazel Wardha coordinated a research experiment with Dr Masaru Emoto? laboratory. 12 Pranic healers from Melbourne and Master Gregory Castanarez from Manila projected Pranic energy to a Tokyo tap water sample placed in Dr Emoto? laboratory in Japan.

The treated water sample and the control water sample were frozen and their crystals were examined under a microscope and photographed with a special camera. The beautiful crystal formation in the water sample , treated with Pranic healing, has yielded an exciting result, which validates the power of Pranic healing , to alter states of matter, even from a distance.

Note from Ale:

I'm a Certified Senior Pranic
Healer myself and have practiced it for over 14 years. Pranic Healing
changed my life completely, and the way i look at everything in life;
now I see things from this perspective. Not only it has allow me me
personally to work on people and help them from their physical
illnesses but also from any form of emotional and mental discomfort.

In my case I use it actively in
my success/motivational coaching as well; kind of to support each
method. If someone comes with a "fear of losing" in a tournament, I help in the coaching but also work on disintegrating the energy
behind the fear. There's a whole pattern behind and without the healing
aspect chances are that getting rid of the fear is like climbing an
escalator going down.

This is so Amazing and I've seen so many people improving their lives that I get carried away! so please forgive my enthusiasm!!

I
wish more people would be willing to step into this path and journey.
You don't have to become a healer, like I did, or Anthony. My husband
took the classes and learned from it the use of energy and how to apply
in different areas of his life: relationships, finances, work, etc.

Today we, Do Your Part, delivered 20 Cases of Gatorade, 160 pounds of
ice, bananas, oranges, and assorted food to the Command Center.
Tomorrow we are picking up numerous donations of water, food, ice, and
Gatorade from other stores, but this is not enough. We need so much
more, especially Gatorade which has been requested.

We need any help you can give, soon we will need help for the people
who have lost their homes. We are also requesting supplies for the
media that is in harms way in order to deliver us the current status of
all the fires.

If you can help in any way, including picking up and delivery, call or email me and mark it URGENT.

Thank you so much for listening to me and all the help you have given in the past.

God Bless You,

Prayers and Meditations...

In our fast world , at some point we need to stop and go back to center. To connect with our own source and inner selves. To recoup, but also to hear the soft wise whisper of the soul. Only when we do this we can find inner peace. Only when one find inner peace, can one reach outer peace - and as a result, peace among all men and women.

This is a selection of prayers, that are considered to be very powerful. However, these are not the only ones. There are thousands of prayers out there, and yet, the best prayer is the one you chant with your soul, with your heart no knowing the words, but with a clear intention and loving heart.

this is a heart opening prayer. When you mentally say it, imagine the world, your area, your family experiencing the love, the pardon and forgiveness, the faith, the hope, the light and the JOY you wish for them all. Imagine all these blessings coming out of your hands but from your heart. Its been proved that prayer is healing and this prayer opens the heart chakra (energy center) that controls the thymus gland and immune system.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

OM ... OM ... OM ...

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of ALL PEOPLE.

Let Light descend on Earth, Let light descend on the affected areas.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of ALL PEOPLE.

May Christ (Love) return to Earth. May love return to the affected areas

From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of ALL PEOPLE –

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the Human Race

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on the affected areas

OM... OM... OM...

Let us be united;
Let us speak in harmony;
Let our minds apprehend alike;
Common be our prayer;
Common be the end of our assembly;
Common be our resolution;
Common be our deliberations;
Common be our intentions;
Perfect be our unity

We remain here,

thinking of those who left us behind

But they never left, their body did.

Their souls are infinite and never ending.

Like the sun...

... just because we don't see it,

it doesn't cease to exist.

In the nights, we must remember it is there... shining as always...

He/she, your friend, you relative, your teacher, your parent...

is always there, shining like a star

let's just close our eyes, realize that we can see them.
&
